About me…
I’m a Southampton-based lifestyle & wedding photographer
And I currently live in Hedge End with my bearded boyfriend, Alex, and our two cats, Big Dave and Ralph.
I cover weddings in Hampshire and surrounding counties, and I’m truly passionate about what I do.
I love capturing genuine, candid moments, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have created a career as a full-time wedding and Family photographer.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a photographer
I first picked up a camera in an after school photography club where I learnt to use an old film SLR camera. My Grandpa had given me his camera to use and I was instantly hooked capturing the beauty in the way I saw it.
From endless hours playing around with the camera and learning how to develop the negatives in a dark room, photography quickly turned from a hobby into a passion.
In 2011 my parents bought me my first DSLR, and I went on to study photography at both college and University. I built up experience covering photography for weddings of close friends and family and assisting Wedding Photographers as a second shooter.
In 2017, I started Melissa Megan Photography. I worked part-time which allowed me to capture weddings and families on the weekends.
And in 2020, I achieved my dream of becoming a full-time wedding photographer!
Today, I run Melissa Megan Photography full time, & I couldn’t be happier.
I think people often forget that it’s just me behind my business!
That means, from the moment they enquire through to the big day, editing photos and creating albums, everything is handled by me!
By keeping everything so close and not outsourcing anything, I’m able to deliver a consistently natural, authentic, and modern photography style that will show through in the photos you receive.
It involves some late nights and early mornings (especially during the summer season – thank you coffee!) but it means I can deliver the best possible service to my couples, and that always makes it worth it!
It’s a challenging and rewarding job, but I truly love it.
